i listened to fewer new albums than i had in previous years. but every album ruled. it’s quality over quantity! i don’t have much more to say. music rules, shouts out to all these artists for making all these releases. i picked one musical release that was the extreme highlight of my year, but otherwise none of these albums are ranked in any particular order except alphabetical.

i loved them all, just in different ways. some of the albums were better to listen to while drinking an ice cold beer while sitting in an inflatable pool in your backyard in the middle of summer. other albums were better to listen to while on a long drive across the state, alone except for what remains of some gas station fried catfish you got earlier. some i needed to experience live before the record connected. or the opposite.

uh my #1 favorite music release wasn’t an album… it was a DJ set from Coachella….

Four Tet x Fred again.. x Skrillex from Coachella 2023, replacing Frank Ocean as the closing set of the festival. i watched it while it was streaming live and it was so damn cool. then i found a download link for the audio and the video. and i’ve watched/listened to it like 5 times since april. and i think i could watch it 5 more times before april.

i’ve never had fomo this bad… this will always be my #1 concert i wish i was at. it started as a TBA on the schedule, then announced to be this crew, and then they utilized the stage set-up meant for Frank Ocean, and then did the whole set in the round… just so badass
