In January 2017, Peter McCarville (of Best Friend) and I curated a compilation album titled Is There Another Language?. A benefit album for the ACLU, it was formed in response to Donald Trump's appointment of Senator Jeff Sessions to US Attorney General.
Overall, we raised a little over $1500 for the ACLU, from digital sales and selling out of 50 limited edition cassettes.
Is There Another Language? contains a selection of fifteen songs and poems, by family, friends, and musical acts we enjoy. It featured the world premiere of "Crow" from an at-the-time unannounced Mt. Eerie album. Dean & Britta offered a track from a formerly tour exclusive 7" release. The Pains of Being Pure At Heart gave "Easy To Be Loved," exclusive to this compilation. Surfer Blood offered a full band rendition of their song "NW Passage."
You can listen to and purchase the album here.
